IF THE PO-POS DON’T SHOW THE COUNCIL MUST GO

There has been recent ridicule of a community member for e-mailing the City Council of Wildomar in the early morning hours after a recent incident at one of our parks during which security in the form of private or law enforcement was severely lacking.
Doing a quick check of the progress on the safety enhancement of our Tot-Lots this is what I found on Saturday morning August 23rd at 9:00 in the AM at the very park in question.

Hiding under the Tot-Lot structure is a secret lair.

Given that the city council got their Measure “Z” parcel tax passed, and has ample money for parks maintenance and improvements coming in, why are all the promises of clean, safe and secure parks not being fulfilled?

To date we have had nothing but poorly planned or all together unplanned parks maintenance efforts. Running Wildomar appears to be done by none-to-smart juveniles not adults or professionals, and the results are amateur at best. Don’t they realize that governance is supposed to include business-like planning, and delivering on all the promises that were part of the whoopla they used to push residents into coughing up a new parks tax?

Where’s a real plan? Where’s the security cameras and security patrol? Where’s the robust parks and recreation programs that are inclusive of all age groups? With a city population of nearly 33,000, having a couple of overnight “camp outs in the park” for maybe a 100 or so scouts and kids just doesn’t cut it. We need a council and city staff that understand the essential need to PLAN THE WORK AND THEN WORK THE PLAN.

Measure Z should have allowed for ample money to maintain our parks and programs but at the speed this city is burning through it, it will soon be gone.

I agree and it would seem that the city would take the opportunity to do essential things first and leave the frills for future years. I was especially keen on your idea of buying a truck mounted steam cleaning system to be used at the parks and the fire station. That would seem to be a wise, long term investment. Certainly the amount of Measure “Z” revenue should allow for such a purchase as well as a full time, dedicated maintenance crew for our parks. As it is, the city and the Standing Parks Subcommittee are frittering lots of money away without a solid plan…but that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. After six years of incorporation where are the sound foundational processes, policies and procedures that any new city must have to move forward successfully?
